Vince
Lee's band the Big Combo have been swinging the blues around the southwest
since late 1996, building a
reputation for authentic sounding rhythm and blues and high quality
musicianship. This is not your stereotypical blues outfit restricted to a
particular style or trend within the music. The Big Combo is influenced by all
aspects of the blues spectrum and combines them to create a widely diverse and
entertaining live show.
At the forefront of the bands sound is VINCE LEE's swinging guitar and powerful
blues voice. He is a strong, soulful vocalist capable of covering a wide range
of styles. Not comparable to any one guitarist or blues singer, Vince has
absorbed the guitar sounds of the west coast, Louisiana, Mississippi, Chicago
& Texas blues traditions. Preferring to be inventive & unpredictable rather
than merely imitating past blues guitar heroes. He has assembled an equally
experienced rhythm section to compliment his considerable talents.
On electric bass is AL WALLIS
who's warm tone and musical adaptability allow his playing to take on a double
bass feel whenever required. From slick walking bass lines to hard driving
boogie, Al's playing displays the rare ability to hold down the groove whilst
punctuating all the dynamic twists & turns the Big Combo's music demands.
KEITH RUSSELL's imaginative drum style draws inspiration from
many musical cultures to create the perfect backdrop for each song. Switching
effortlessly from propulsive foot stomping shuffles to Cuban, Latin, Jazz
& African rhythms. The interaction and energy between these three musicians has
to be experienced in a live situation to be fully appreciated. They have the
ability to produce a big sound without resorting to power trio antics to keep
an audience captivated.
